Mallorca star sent off for showing middle finger to opponent
RCD Mallorca star Vedat Muriqi was shown a red card for an altogether bizarre reason on Saturday evening.
As much came en route to Mallorca’s victory over Las Palmas.
Jagoba Arrasate’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Gran Canaria for a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Las Palmas.
When all was said and done in an entertaining affair, the visitors emerged on the right side of the result, courtesy of a last-gasp Johan Mojica winner.
As much came about despite Mallorca having been down to ten men, after the aforementioned Vedat Muriqi was sent for an early bath amid the most unusual of circumstances.
After an exchange between the Bermellones front man and Jaime Mata, Muriqi was spotted gesturing in the direction of the Las Palmas star.
The incident, from here, was sent to the VAR room, before referee Alejandro Muniz was called to the pitch side monitor.
Replays of the incident showcased the fact that Muriqi had shown his middle finger to Jaime, with Muniz having come to the conclusion that as much was worthy of a straight red card.
